PA Women Work Presents: Mothers of Bedford
Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 2:00 PM (PDT)
Pennsylvania Women Work will be screening Mothers of Bedford in conjunction with Pittsburgh Filmmakers. While Pennsylvania Women Work is known for empowering women with the tools for finding employment, we have lobbied behind a film that examines the barriers women must face while incarcerated and upon release.
Guests are welcomed to join us as we take a deep examination of the relationships between incarcerated mothers and their children, exploring related attachment and recidivism issues. The film also explores the hardships of finding employment for ex-offenders once they are released from prison, a topic that those who work with this population encounter every day. Following the screening there will be a Q&A with the filmmaker and one of the subjects of the film. This will be followed by a reception.
Please note that seating is limited.
